Cambridge is ‘The Town of Trees and Champions’. It’s memorable for its leafy streets, heritage buildings, antique shops and thoroughbred horse studs.

The pretty country town of Cambridge is located in the heart of the Waikato horse breeding district. It has lovely tree lined streets and many well preserved heritage buildings. Cambridge is legendary for its top horse breeding and its success in the Melbourne Cup, with 13 of the cup's winner bred here.

While in Cambridge you can shop for antiques and art, sample the local restaurants, take a jetboat ride on the Waikato River, follow the Walk of Fame for insight into the town’s thoroughbred and Olympic champions, take a tour of a stud park, and enjoy the splendid parks and gardens. There’s an interesting museum in the old courthouse at the southern end of the main street.

Cambridge is also home to the world class velodrome, the Avantidrome Home of Cycling. It has track racing facilities, a children's bike park and connections to the Te Awa Cycleway.
